Black Wheel Inserts

The world of wheel inserts is new to me. Van clued me in on it and I may have seen it prior to him showing me but I probably didn’t pay attention to it. In Van’s words I should, “Brush up on [my] observation skillz.” Whatever…haha.

Anyways, black wheel inserts are badass if done correctly! It basically creates the illusion of there being just a thin spoke in the wheel. Instead of being able to see the thickness of the spoke itself, the “girth” or width of the spoke is painted black to mask the size leaving behind just the spoke face itself. It took me a little while to understand but these pictures should clear up any confusion you may have.

And here’s also another picture of an example of a copper colored insert. This proves that if done correctly, inserts are badass!

That’s interesting. I always thought it was paint or powder coating or something to that effect. Do they actually make pieces that attach to the wheel?
